Swansea University Uses the Laboratory Roll-to-Roll Coater for Sustainable Battery Innovation
How can we create sustainable batteries for diverse energy storage, crucial for electric vehicles and renewable energy integration? 🚗🔋
Swansea University is actively engaged in research aimed at developing sustainable energy storage solutions to support the transition to cleaner energy sources, particularly in the context of electric vehicles and renewable energy integration with the grid.
Led by Professor Serena Margadonna, the Circular Applications to Utilise and Retain Energy (CAPTURE) center focuses on creating batteries with improved performance and reduced environmental impact.
One notable innovation is the anode-free concept in sodium-ion batteries, which simplifies manufacturing processes, increases energy density, and extends battery lifetime. Collaborations with industry partners like ENSERV POWER aim to scale up these innovations for commercialization.
We are thrilled to announce that Swansea University soon will incorporate infinityPV's Laboratory Roll-To-Roll Coater (specifically the LR2RC1500) platform, alongside various oven units and components, into their research infrastructure, allowing for precise and customizable thin film printing and coating processes crucial for battery development.
This research aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action.
