The EU-funded LUMINOSITY Project Has Been Launched
Today, the EU-funded LUMINOSITY project was launched at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. Leading European universities, research centers, and companies will collaborate to elevate the technology readiness level (TRL) of fully roll-to-roll processed 20% perovskite solar technology from TRL 5 to TRL 7.
What is LUMINOSITY?
LUMINOSITY aims to scale flexible perovskite solar cells (PSC) to commercial production using industrial processes. The project will demonstrate a roll-to-roll (R2R) processed photovoltaic (PV) module with >20% efficiency over 900 cm², reaching TRL 7. Key is the use of an aluminum-based substrate with a fluorinated-tin-oxide (FTO) electrode from HyET Solar, allowing high-temperature processes for better stability and efficiency. The consortium includes research developers, manufacturers, suppliers, and end-users. LUMINOSITY targets 20+ years of operational stability, 0.14 USD/W cost at R2R scale, and 50% lower CO2 footprint than c-Si PV, supporting the EU's REPowerEU goals.
